22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time - 1st September 2013
Do take the newsletter home for further reference. Reflection: Sometimes when we read the Sunday’s readings we need no further explanation, they speak for themselves. Today’s first reading from the book of Ecclesiasticus says:”My son, be gentle in carrying out your business and you will be better loved than a lavish giver” Most of us do not have the means of being a lavish giver but all of us have the gifts of courtesy, respect and gentleness as we deal with each other on a daily basis. In the Gospel reading Jesus tells the lavish giver:When you have a party invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, that they cannot pay you back means that you are fortunate because repayment will be made to you when the virtuous will rise again. This week on the radio a single act of kindness was highlighted and it had a ripple effect of kind acts being carried out on a continuous basis. In our daily lives all of us interact with each other so let’s become more aware of the effect our actions have on other people. We welcome into our christian community those recently baptised: Sarah Catherine May; Ella Angela Cecilia; Madison Ava; Molly May;Tadhg Mark; Alexander Peter Desmond; Lucy ElizabethChurch of St. Laurence O’Toole - Family Mass The Family Mass will commence on Sunday, 15th September. The first practice will take place on Friday 13th immediately after school. We look forward to having the girls & boys from St. Laurence O’Toole school joining us.
