Interested in learning more about the Next Generation Science
Standards? The National Science Teacher's Association is offering a
series of free webinars to help science teachers prepare for the
implementation of NGSS. Topics include Engineering Practices in
NGSS, Using NGSS Practices in Elementary Grades and Connections
between Practices in NGSS, Common Core Math and Common Core
ELA. Find our more and register for on the NSTA Learning Center
The Region 9 Technical Assistance Center (RTAC) of the San Diego
County Office of Education (SDCOE) invites you to submit proposals
for STEMpower! This one-day conference will convene after school
professionals from across San Diego, Orange, and Imperial Counties.
The audience will include school administrators, district coordinators,
after school provider agency managers, site supervisors, and front-line
program staff. The STEMpower conference aims to increase after
school educators’ confidence & competence in offering engaging STEM
learning opportunities in out-of-school time programs.

at elementary, middle, high schools and community-based
organizations throughout the seven Bay Area counties comprising
Region 4 and beyond. The annual conference theme is: Bridging the
Bay: A Commitment to Quality After School! This year California After
School Network is co-sponsoring the STEP-UP Older Youth Track
Teacher-Scientist Partnership Conference
Join partnership professionals, teachers, and scientists from around the
world for two days as we build community and share expertise in this
rapidly growing field. Both new and experienced stakeholders in
teacher-scientist partnerships will gain insight from keynote speakers,
panel sessions, workshops, and networking time.
This year's theme of the American Association of the Advancement of
Science's Annual Meeting is "The Beauty and Benefits of Science."
Coalition Director Carol Tang is the organizer of a session on Sunday
February 17th from 8:30-11:30am entitled "Science After School:
Scientists Inspire the Next Generation Outside of the Classroom."
